MEET SOME ACTION TOWARDS INCLUSION KEYWORKERS
Hi I’m Dawn and I work for Scarborough & Ryedale Carers Resource.
We are a local charity covering Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale, providing free and confidential support for unpaid carers from the age of 8 upwards. The service provides practical assistance at home, once someone has left hospital and is focused on reducing isolation as well as increasing confidence and independence.
Because my participants are carers, their main focus is looking after someone else and all the issues that may arise from this, depending on the illness of the person they are caring for. This often results in them having to give up work. Quite often, many of them are then socially isolated resulting in depression. Caring also takes a toll on them financially and will continue for as long the caring role.
I have seen massive changes in my participants, and this depends on the journey they have to make. From just managing to get out of the house, growing in confidence, to just finding themselves and then moving forward.

Im Ricky from Working for Health, an employment support organisation for people with mental ill health covering Selby and East Riding.
We provide one to one support for people on the ATI programme and offer interventions including Counselling, Wellbeing, Digital Skills, Vocational Skills, Volunteering and Work Placements. Many of our participants struggle with believing they can work with a mental illness or that they are worth any investment from an employer – we don’t believe that and we help build their confidence, removing any barriers in order to reveal the best versions of themselves.
So often, mental ill health stops people from reaching their potential. At Working for Health we change all that.
